Rest in Pieces is excited to announce that Gavin Burland the Manager of Technical Operations at the Sydney School of Veterinary Science has joined the team.

Together we have launched Australia's first 2-day beginner Corrosion Casting Workshop.

The workshop will run from 1:00pm - 9:00pm on Saturday and 11:00am - 6:00pm on Sunday.

Throughout Day 1 you will get hands on and learn how to prepare and identify the anatomy, tie off and resin inject a sheep's heart. You will also attend an informative seminar on the history of corrosion casting and learn how to chemically macerate your specimen.

On day 2 you will prepare your own pre-macerated specimen for mounting and will learn the basics of installation.

At the end of the workshop you will walk away with a deeper knowledge of this fascinating scientific process and your very own gorgeous corrosion cast heart in a glass dome.

As usual, the RIP team will take care of everything for you. All necessary tools along with your specimen, dome, apron, snacks, drinks, lunch and even wine will be provided throughout.

No prior Plastination or Corrosion Casting skills are necessary.

Instalment Billing is available at the workshop checkout!

This was a great experience and extremely social. To walk away with an amazing piece of 'Art' suitable for teaching makes it truly worth the experience. Another unexpected treat was the level of hospitality - food and drink were top notch. Every diet was catered for, yet everything provided was delicious and in good quantity. The hours of the workshop meant I could catch a flight from Brisbane in the morning and use public transport then be home at a reasonable hour on the Sunday - local accommodation is easy to find and reasonably priced. Wonderful staff at an awesome venue also made this experience so rewarding. Am looking forward to participating in more workshops.

The Rest In Pieces Corrosion Casting workshop was absolutely fantastic! Gavin has a wealth of knowledge and both he and Nat were engaging throughout the 2 days. The content was pitched so that everyone in the room could easily follow the process regardless of their background and there was no requirement for assumed knowledge before arriving. It was well written, well delivered, and super organised. Nat and her staff are lovely and genuinely care about making skills previously reserved for highly skilled preparators available to the broader public. I loved every minute!

This was a wonderful experience- informative yet informal, very interesting and attentive educators who make sure that you're up with the steps and ensure a easy-going atmosphere. Since displaying my piece I 've had lots of admiring questions and queries from work colleagues and friends concerning it and the course. Would definitely recommend!!
